OneClimate App
I was part of the OneClimate team from the beginning – August 2021 – and built the app together with my teammates from scratch. We wanted to build a climate action app, that helps the user understand their impact on the climate and how to become active based on that. We want to enable more people to make sustainable decisions every day and promote system change by supporting sustainable brands and signing petitions.
As I always was the only designer in the team I was highly involved in the development of new features, making strategic product decisions with the product owner and was responsible for the whole UX and UI of the app. I was also leading many user interviews to get a better understanding of the jtbd and test prototypes before implementing them. This great involvement in strategic questions and a big understanding of the users helped me build this product for the last 2 years.
Understand your impact
The CO2 footprint was invented by BP, which is very problematic. Still, this number enables everyone of us to understand the impact everyone makes and to have a better estimate of what a CO2 number means. If the user learns, that a flight to New York is already almost half of what the average german person emits per year, it makes you think and understand what needs to change for a better climate.
We want to give the users as many insights as it is possible. On the right you see many different ideas we had in the product team. unfortunately we are a very small team and could not implement all of it in our app.
